She Saves Nigeria - Financial Inclusion Program by Habeeb Okunola Foundation in Ipere Village Ekiti
Affordable financial services are central to addressing poverty, unfortunately only 36% of women in Nigeria have access to affordable financial services. Habeeb Okunola Foundation works to ensure that poor women in rural areas have access to an extensive range of suitable and affordable financial services to create new opportunities, grow their businesses and earn a living. This empowers them to rise above the threshold of poverty and afford the basic necessities of life.
We strive to contribute our developmental quota towards eradicating poverty and building shared prosperity through our financial inclusion programme ‘She Saves Nigeria’ (SSN). SSN was founded on the premise that undeserving poor people living in rural with no banks or financial service should be able to save their own money as well as access microloans. SSN helps women in rural communities organize group of 12 to 15 people, who are given the sum of 70,000 - 100,000 naira as a start-up loan all members have access to and can borrow from. Every member of the group save 1000 naira every month and disburse loans; that are paid back with 10% interest. Group members elect their own leadership annually, set their bylaws, and decide collectively how to achieve their goals.
At the end of each year, the amount saved plus interest accumulated is divided up equally among group members. After 18 months of existence, it is expected that members of the group would have witnessed socioeconomic transformation and progression, and are obligated to use the startup fund to set up a new savings group in another undeserving community around and recruit beneficiaries, thereby leading to a virtuous cycle of financial inclusion. -

Maternal Care Outreach Programme in Agbede Community, Ikorodu, Nigeria - Habeeb Okunola Foundation
According to UNICEF, eight of the 10 most dangerous places to be born are sub-Saharan Africa, where pregnant women are much less likely to receive assistance during delivery due to poverty, conflict and weak institutions. With the newborn mortality rate of 29 deaths per 1,000 births, the global estimates rank Nigeria as the 11th highest on newborn deaths.
The continuum for maternal, newborn, and child health usually refers to continuity of individual care. Continuity of care is necessary throughout the lifecycle (adolescence, pregnancy, childbirth, the postnatal period, and childhood) and also between places of caregiving (including households and communities, outpatient and outreach services, and clinical-care settings).
Habeeb Okunola Foundation supports nursing mothers by providing them with free newborn kits and materials to afford their child a healthy life -
